Façade Pixel

La façade est plus ou moins l'identité du bâtiment : on se souvient rarement de sa toiture, de ses fenêtres, ou bien de son sol, à moins que ceux-ci ne présentent un caractère monumental. Ce dont on se souvient, c'est la façade. D'ailleurs, pour la plupart des bâtiments, on ne rentre même pas dedans, on se contente d'un regard extérieur.
On vit une époque qui tend à être de plus en plus virtuelle et digitale. D'un côté, les gens partagent une quantité d'informations phénoménale par le biais d'un support virtuel. L'espace virtuel devient alors une composante majeure dans la société actuelle. D'un autre côté, les conceptions génératives en architecture, qui permettent la genèse d'un produit quasi-aléatoire dans un but souvent esthétique ou fonctionnel.

Croisons ces observations pour n'en faire qu'une :
- La façade est ce dont on se souvient
- Les gens partagent l'information grâce aux nouvelles technologies
- La conception générative permet un résultat pseudo-aléatoire, donc unique en un sens.
Faisons de la façade le support de l'information virtuelle du bâtiment.

A la manière des flashcodes que l'ont scannent grâce aux smartphones, la façade DEVIENT le flashcode.

On génère une façade "pixel" qui devient alors support de toute l'information du bâtiment : programme, matériaux, architecte, plan, calendrier des évènements s'il s'agit d'un équipement public. Accessible n'importe quand, on peut alors se renseigner sur le contenu d'un édifice simplement en passant devant et en scannant la façade.
La transmission de l'information architecturale est ainsi possible pour n'importe qui.

Here is the result...!

What was done here is simply subdivide 2 surfaces and list points to get sets of strips and "cull" it! Usually when you make hexagrids, it's a bunch of hexagons set on a point grid and a center point...

And when you get to production, you unroll hexagon cells one by one...and start getting it together and it lasts forever! Moreover, you need much more material (cardboard or whatever you are using and glue)!

Honeycombs 1

First post about grasshopper. I guess when you start working on these kind of tools, inevitably you have to pass through honeycombs or ribs or Voronois (as Dimitrie Stefanescu explains very well in his critical pamphlet) ...


Well this is probably the first one of a long serie of honeycombs!


Actually what we tried to do here, is to avoid the classical scheme of the hexagrid pattern. the reflection was based on the most profitable way of fabricating such an object. thinking about the economy of materials, and the fastest way of lazercutting and putting it together...
